RailSURV
RailSURV is field software for operating the TrackMaster TM3000, GG-05 VBP and TrackMaster CFG track measuring trolleys, optimized for a Windows tablet. It enables data collection and immediate evaluation directly in the field – from measuring the track to preparing data for a tamping machine, all in a single program.
The software builds on GEOKOD Rail's many years of experience developing railway measuring systems and is open to working with commonly used surveying equipment from various manufacturers. We strive to make RailSURV support as many total stations and GNSS receivers as possible, and we continually add new instrument types based on specific customer requirements – this is precisely what makes RailSURV unique on the market. At the same time, we try to iron out the quirks of individual manufacturers so that connecting a device to RailSURV is fully comparable to the manufacturer's own original software, while also incorporating our own workflows and insights into how measurement should work, based on our own field experience.
RailSURV is living software that we ourselves use daily in our own field measurement work, and we continuously develop it based on real-world operation. The goal is for RailSURV to be as universally usable as possible, so that customers do not need two different software programs for field work.
RailSURV exists in a single, full-featured version only – with no functional limitations and no division into license tiers.
Applications
- Measuring track geometric parameters (gauge, cant, position) with a trolley, total station or GNSS receiver
- Preparing data for an automatic tamping machine, including linear ramps
- Point staking and common surveying tasks
- Advanced track axis staking using a trolley, including slab track
- Staking the track/road axis using design gauge and cant values
- Staking by the "to line" method
- Mapping of tracks and surrounding objects
- Track condition inspection and as-built documentation
Measurement methods
- Manual measurement of individual points
- Semi-automatic Stop & Go method – the trolley controls the course of measurement at a set interval and signals with a sound when to stop and when to continue moving
- Continuous kinematic measurement (tracking) while the trolley is moving
- Chord measurement using two trolleys
- GEOKOD Rail's own eccentric station method – unlike the basic chord measurement method, it does not depend on the precision of the trolley's positioning against the reference point, eliminating its main drawback
Key features
- A single, full-featured version of the software with no functional limitations
- Collection and online evaluation of data from the trolley combined with a total station or GNSS receiver
- Progressive joining and adjustment of individual measured track axis sections as the measurement proceeds and new total station setup stations are established
- Support for Leica, Topcon and Sokkia total stations
- Support for Alfa Geo, Hi-Target and South GNSS receivers
- Connection of a profile rangefinder based on the Leica Disto X6 for measuring the clearance gauge
- Calculation of data for a tamping machine, including linear ramps
- Clear graphical map view as well as tabular data view
- Compatible with the TrackMaster TM3000, GG-05 VBP and TrackMaster CFG trolleys
